In this class with Giselle, I found it very helpful to explain simultaneously what happens to both the leader and the follower within the same movement, as well as why we do it. This greatly enhanced my understanding of the details and relationships that leaders and followers should pay attention to during the entire movement. Although there weren't any complex or flashy dance sequences, the steps provided in class allowed for efficient practice and coordination of the movements we were supposed to work on, leading to a deeper understanding of many details.

Additionally, through the code of walking and the concepts of open and cross in our relative positions, I learned where I could apply techniques like guncho and sacada. This knowledge will allow me to re-interpret some steps I've learned in the past and add more variations to my dancing in the future.

I also want to thank Giselle for continually reminding me about the position of my right hand and the direction I need to give to the follower.

Como alumno, en mi corto camino transitado en este baile maravilloso que es el Tango, reconozco que no fue uno de los menos alegres descubrimientos en mi vida, el haber tenido la oportunidad de conocerlos. En el comienzo, como a todo alumno de genero masculino, lo primero que me atrajo, es sin dudas el referente que significa Gustavo en ese aspecto, desde la postura, la proyección, la marca, el carácter masculino hasta el abrazo.
Con el tiempo mi capacidad de observación fue ampliándose y hoy siento la necesidad, amén de como alumno, sino también como espectador y admirador, de reconocer a través de tu trabajo, tu baile en fin, de ese maravilloso espectáculo que brindas cada vez que bailas junto a Gustavo, del enorme rol o papel que juega la mujer en la totalidad de los aspectos que tiene que ver con el baile de tipo entrelazado como lo es el Tango. En otras palabras, antes yo solía pensar "¡Cómo baila Gustavo!" hoy además de ello incorporo para mi esta otra afirmación..."¡Cómo y cuánto baila Giselle Anne!" un reconocimiento que vuelvo a repetir como alumno y espectador me llena de satisfacción y placer.

Before attending the class, I was worried that I might not understand or keep up with Giselle's lessons.

However, Giselle's teaching is very detailed—she explains techniques, key points, and things to pay attention to in a clear and easy-to-understand way. The class itself was also very engaging.

In particular, the fundamental tango concepts, such as forward, side, and backward steps, finding the partner’s axis, and maintaining the right distance, helped me gain a deeper understanding.

Whenever I had any doubts or confusion, Giselle was always willing to explain and answer questions.

I found that the most valuable aspect of the entire event was the attention to detail in the teaching process. There are many details that people often overlook or get wrong, but the teacher was able to spot and correct them right away. During the demonstration lessons, every movement is explained very thoroughly.

The teacher answers our questions with great dedication, ensuring that there’s never a situation where we leave class without fully understanding the material.

When teaching women's techniques, the teacher is incredibly meticulous. Every detail is explained so clearly, and she is just stunningly beautiful 😻.

I gained so much from the class! There were some new concepts that were different from before. While teacher Evergreen mentioned the importance of understanding a guy's axis and distance previously, this time it was explained much more clearly.

The techniques were enlightening, with countless details to pay attention to, and it will take a lot of time to practice on my own. In many lessons, girls also need to understand how guys operate, which is fantastic.

I also enjoyed the same-sex practice content; it really felt like a bonus. It was explained in much greater detail than in Hong Kong, and the instructor was incredibly friendly. I look forward to her coming back next time!

1. At the beginning, since I hadn't attended previous classes, it took me some time to adapt to the teaching style and to find what I could do and listen to in the moment.

2. Although many of the explanations and tips given during class seemed familiar from previous lessons with Teacher EG, Giselle's demonstrations and reminders helped me to re-evaluate and understand what I was actually doing or not doing (for example, timing, step length, direction, how to practically implement the distance in open or close embrace, and the relative positions of the follower and leader). Additionally, there were reminders from teachers and senior students, such as paying attention to signals and the front and back positions.

3. Giselle mentioned some important points: for instance, that followers should also pay attention to the leader's position and movements in order to coordinate their steps, the "pattern" of the music, and whether they are in a parallel or crossed system, as well as which step they are on. These insights and perceptions were previously set aside due to my role, but I feel that understanding them more deeply could be beneficial for my future.

4. The brief tips and explanations, along with short attempts and corrections, made the rhythm of the class feel very smooth.

I also really like the layered teaching approach—it makes it easier to absorb the information and gives me that “Oh, so that’s how it works!” feeling.

The class was very detail-oriented, and both leaders and followers had their own important things to focus on.

She repeatedly emphasized key points, regardless of the topic. These important concepts were always present, making a lasting impression—unlike my past experiences where I would forget everything after class (well, at least for me).

I also feel like I understand how to follow a bit better now.

I have taken this cycle (From the Perspective of the follower's view) of classes and will continue because I find them extremely interesting. Not only practical exercises to internalize certain tango movements, but also to keep my mind ′′ trained ".
In this difficult time (Covid), it made me think of tango not only with nostalgia! These are lessons for both followers and leaders, where the tango structure deepens. The idea is that the structure depends on what the follower movements are, and where it poses with respect to the leader. Understanding this, it allows the leader to ′′ create the dance ′′ and follower to understand what's going on and what the leader expects, what's automatic and what's driven. So it pushes for greater mutual listening. This at least I understood!

I was fortunate enough to learn from Giselle Anne in New Zealand this year (2025).
It was an amazing experience and has made me hunger to learn more from her.
